ESTIMATOR

Maryland Pump & Tank, Inc., a leader in the Petroleum Industry for over 50 years, is seeking an experienced Estimator. Join a team of professionals in this dynamic industry who help protect the environment! Only energetic, reliable candidates with a can-do attitude need apply.

In this position, you will work independently or with the management and sales teams to prepare detailed cost estimates for the construction, upgrades, repair or demolition of petroleum related facilities. Examples include service stations, marinas, transportation companies and more.

Estimator will be responsible for:

Analyzing all project documents to determine the overall estimated cost of a project.
• Reading and understanding the contract, scope of work, and customer’s requirements
• Visiting job sites to analyze and document site conditions
• Attending pre-bid meetings
• Interpreting drawings, specifications, proposals and other documentation with a clear understanding of project details and costs.
• Obtaining pricing for materials, equipment, subcontractors, permits, supplies and labor in accordance to the customer’s specifications and industry standards
• Analyzing proposals from subcontractors
• Preparing detailed cost estimates with preliminary schedule
• Ordering materials, supplies
• Meeting deadlines
• Following company protocol for project bidding and project management
• Maintaining reports, files and information with quick and accurate recall


REQUIREMENTS:

• Clean and valid MD driver's license
• Must be alcohol and drug-free
• Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience is required
• 2 years cost estimating in the construction industry (petroleum field preferred)
• High proficiency in computer software systems including MS Word, Excel, etc. and GANTT charts
• Understanding of job cost reports
• Understanding of blue prints and job schematics
• Knowledge and understanding of contracts and industry terminology
• Strong safety record - must follow safety protocol
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to think critically and problem solve
• Positive attitude and ability to interact with customers, vendors, management, construction team
• Professional demeanor and exceptional work ethic

Position is full-time, M-F 7:30-4pm. Some travel may be required as service area extends to the state of Maryland, Southern PA, northern VA, Southern NJ and Delaware.
