I remember an issue with compensation valve at the meter output that not relief the pressure at a correct value. You can install a manometer in the hose to see the residual pressure when the nozzle close.

Pressure relief problem without a doubt, dealt with this problem years ago.

03-17-2023 Update: tech put gauge. on line prior to dispenser and after dispenser prior to filter housing presures while dispensing fuel, line pressure is 28-30 on line both prior to the dispenser and after the dispenser. Stop fueling return nozzle to cradle(STP stops) line pressure prior to dispenser meter drops to zero while line pressure exterior of dispenser prior to fuel filter housing climbs to above 50 PSI. This is without reenergizing dispenser or STP. installed a T in line and ran copper line back to Tank port of STP. line pressure drops to zero. Tech believes issue may lie with proportioning valve/ solenoid interior to Wayne dispenser...... any input?

how did you resolve the issue, I am having a similar issue with a RJ pump and a Wayne dispenser.

Had this issue a while back after installing new Gilbarco E700s. Turned out to be the upper poppet on the OPW dual poppet shear valve. Upper poppet was acting like a check valve. Short term fix was to remove the upper poppet until a new one was installed.
