Commander and E700 800 gallon transaction TOTAL IS OFF

Post by Kennyl » Thu Jul 20, 2017 1:00 pm

I received a receipt from a customer showing the fuel price of $2.99 with a volume of 801.66 gallons for a total of $805.00. Now I am no math major but I am pretty sure that is not right. POS service provider is blaming the dispensers and we have never run into this issue before. Has anyone else seen this?

E700's on latest versions and Exxon Commander version is currently unknown.

Are they giving any kind of fuel discounts, or adjustments? Did anyone look at the actual dispenser for dollars and Gallons dispensed when this occurred? Would help with saying it's an inside or outside problem.

My guess is it was never an actual sale. I had a shell site with advantages that I ran my card at (outside). It would not pump so I hung it up. The register showed a sale with my card for over $900. I still have the receipt somewhere but, I remember it showed a crazy amount of gallons dispensed. it didn't Charge my card.

After reviewing the security cameras and looking at the logs in all dispensers it looks like something that the midnight cashier is doing. I will find out what it is and report back.

Have you found out anything on this issue yet. We are having a similar issue at a shell site. always an 800 transaction.

It took several trips and we were unable to determine the cause until we reviewed the camera footage. Something that one of the cashiers was doing on the commander caused it. Because the footage is so grainy we were unable to determine exactly what it was but the time stamps all matched with him pushing a lot of buttons!

Weird, I just ran into this twice in the past 2 days at different sites- both sites running 700s flexpay4, 3.3.19 on PCN, BRCM2, & Commander. 1 site Mobil, the other a Citgo. Exactly $800 was added to the end of the sale, customer prepaid $14.75, got $14.75 in fuel but came due inside for $814.75. Both transactions were prepays, 1 cash and 1 credit. Pump sales display show correct amount, nothing in pump event logs indicates a PCN problem. Neither GVR or VFI is fessing up. Upgraded PCN to 3.3.32. We'll see
Be alert - we need more lerts!

I have been having the same problem for the last three years. I am a Mobil station near Chicago and may be you are talking about my station. It happens only in summer when the temperature is above ~90 degrees f. I am replacing the ups. If you found a solution, pl let me know. (847)899-6457

Without a two-wire data monitor, is there a way to overly simplify this - meaning:
  • Does the pump show +800 in its totals? If so, the POS can't control the pumps electronic totals. If this is off, you should be having GVR dig in more.
  • If the pump totals aren't off, then seems like the completion is getting thrown off by the POS. Anything in common? (Discounts? Loyalty?)

The pump shows the correct amount of gallons and dollars. While pump is pumping the POS screen fluctuates between the correct $ or gallons and 800 or 80 or 8+actual dollars and gallons. The final receipt shows either the correct amount or 800 added to it and the customer is billed accordingly. It happens on all pumps and happens when outside temperature is above ~89 degrees f.
