Compatibility, corrosion and bugs
In the last couple of months, I have sat through multiple presentations on compatibility and corrosion. I thought I'd share the presentations that are online with you guys.
OK, when I began writing this I did not realize how many presentations there have been in the last couple months on this. WARNING: Some of these are sales presentations and may add very little to the conversation.

Trying to make an explanation more simple.
It makes no difference what type of material the containment boundary is made of. It makes no difference as to the product being stored.
You control degradation of the product being stored, be it fuel or potato chips by keeping the product stored surrounding atmosphere dry and oxygen free.
Dry inert gas blanketing and or ullage purging processes suggested will not reverse damage only help to prevent further degradation.
I do not understand the difficulty in comprehending a simple set of rules for preventing conditions causing problems.
If there is no oxidization and there is no moisture how can there be degradation, and corrosion not controlled? Conditions at the bottom of a tank or above the fuel stored feed off each other only compounding, confounding, confusing, compromising and comprehension of why we have the problem in the first place.
If ferrous oxidization debris does not form on exposed surfaces above the fuel it can't fall off and settle to the bottom of the tank.
If moisture doesn't condense above the fuel on exposed surfaces it can't fall off as water and end up at the bottom of the tank.
The problem controllable is an atmosphere in or out of equilibrium at the fuel or freeze dried shrimp product surface/ullage interface in the tank or plastic bag.
Basic physical contact and reaction properties well defined. Fick's and Henry's basic laws of equilibrium, evaporation and condensation.

NACE training on MIC in tanks.
Tanks store a variety of hazardous chemicals and substances that not only negatively impact their surrounding environment if the integrity of the asset is compromised due to corrosion, but leads to costly, unplanned downtime when tanks are drained for repair and maintenance. Today, there are upwards of 64,000 leaking storage tanks in the United States due in large part to Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion (MIC) that is either unidentified or unmanaged.
This two-day (2.5 hours per day) virtual Corrosion Technical Series (CTS) short course brings together industry thought leaders to share their insights, lessons learned, and best practices focused on identifying and mitigating MIC in above and underground storage tanks. Experts will make the link between all areas of the industry, from research, to the service provider, all the way to the customer, to better understand the science behind the MIC phenomenon and practical knowledge to combat the program such as biocides and other mitigation tactics to apply to your job.
