CLSD alarms occurring with switch to summer gas

Our tank tech reports increasing CLSD alarms, with no leaks, seemingly occurring with the current switch to low rvp gas ("summer gas"). Anyone out there seeing this? Also, a local terminal is instructed to recalibrate their turbine meters at the start and end of the low rvp season. I have searched h...

Diesel corrosion

If you read that Battelle report, you'll find that the acetic acid formed by bacteria and ethanol in the fuel rises to the top of the fuel surface, and vaporizes into the tank headspace. Acetic acid has a higher vapor pressure and thus goes directly into the vapor. Of course, we cannot fill the tank...

Diesel corrosion

Hey, I would!

Our problems have decreased somewhat, with Gamma Jetting, etc., but I always want to learn more.

Diesel corrosion

Folks - I'm looking at a different angle: acetic acid in the vapor space of USTs causing all this corrosion.

Included is a presentation from ASTM in July 2010 addressing this. Interesting!!

Good luck to all of us on this.

Diesel corrosion

Our pump tech and I are fairly certain that the problem must lie in the fuel as loaded at the terminal. Our USTs are clean, probe shafts are clean, no water bottoms, clear fuel, etc. We have two c-stores that have this chronic problem, and both are supplied from the same terminal. I just need author...

Diesel corrosion

Thanks for the info. I have the original article by Shell about diesel soaps, but our problem involves corrosion particles that are grainy, and look like coffee grounds when dry, and even sound like it when you shake a container of them. Also, these particles are ferrous (iron) and are attracted to ...
