Low VOC emitting fuel storage tanks

Post by ZMiller » Sun Jul 18, 2021 7:32 am

Tell me if this is not interesting?

Modern’s, Glasteel II CC&A (“Complete Containment and Access”) Tank Design Nitrogen Benefits to Fuel Storage

Highlights of Tank Construction
 Low “VOC” Emitting Ready; Threaded fittings/equipment that provide for: Time stamping of: fuel drops; internal pressure elevation values to control harmful VOC evolution into the atmosphere.
 Underwriters Laboratories UL 58 and 1746 Listed Construction  360 Degree jacketed double wall tank containment
 24” manway provides internal tank access
 All other tank openings are accessible within containment sump areas
 Full Butt Weld Construction provides superior weld strength, flexibility and durability
 Butt welding also provides an unobstructed water movement to end of tank for ease of removal.
 Steel construction provides compatibility with all hydrocarbon fuels
 “IOTA” Fitting (D-1”) Provides “flow through” capability for purging/monitoring annular space (interstice), when needed.
 Other openings are easily installed for the customer’s special application and needs. Fitting for annular space access. Threaded fittings are Low VOC Emitting Ready

Wow, this seems very innovative.
Do you have any videos of the system in action?

Relatively simple setup for new and existing tanks. Good for monitoring tank overpressures and moisture in primary tank and interstitial. The simpler system setups can control corrosion and in some jurisdictions qualify a tank as being continuously monitored and tested. Works well on Convaults and generator tanks if there are integrity, remote location or fuel quality issues needing to be prevented or addressed.

"Hello McFly"

And if say a tank owner voluntarily reduces a fuel tank release of a VOC that owner might possibly qualify take and bank a low VOC emitting credit. Banked Low (reduced) VOC Emitting credits are kind of like Renewable Energy Credits and they vary in value based on demand. If a fuel (gasoline) delivery in a non attainment area produces typically a release of VOC's, their weight (say 14 pounds per delivery) quickly adds up more or less over time to 2,000 pounds (One ton). The Low VOC credit can be taken only if the owner of a VOC emitting source has not been mandated to reduce emissions.

In high volume throughput Hyper sites typically one might see close to 100 pounds of VOC's per day released to atmosphere. Now the Low VOC emitting credit might have a value of between $50.00 and $1,000.00 per ton depending on demand. As global warming issues seem more relevant these days it might be wise if I owned a "Gas Station" to designate vent pipes connected to gasoline fuel storage tanks as stationary VOC emitting sources.

Glad to see Modern thinking about the future.
So lets get out of the gas station building and repair business and open a Low VOC Emitting Credit Bank (VOCECB). We could all be driving Tesla's.
