I also like the Heavyweight product. We used to buy another Jomar product called "Gimme the white stuff" that was outstanding.

The best pipe dope to use is Tru-Blu. It WILL seal.

I've always used Teflon tape, and any cheap Teflon tape I get my hands on with Gasoila. I haven't had any leaking or seeping problems yet as long as you crank the pipes tight enough. You might just need to make your connections a little tighter. You aren't doing this with a pare of vise grips are you? Get a couple 24" offsets and a couple cheater bars and go to town.
