diesel pipe dope thread sealant
We have had good luck with yellow tape and pipe dope. I have seen some guys using some sealant that looks grey. What is that?

I have found FasSeal by Gasoila works the best out of all the products on the market. It is the only thread sealant I will allow at my facilities.

thanks for the recommendation TheWay...do you have diesel facilities as well or just gasoline? Main issues have been with diesel.

I work for a transit agency so I mainly deal with diesel.

We only use E-SEAL for gasoline. It hasn't worked well with diesel / ULSD. We are going to try the FasSeal as recommended in thread above on some diesel systems shipping this week. Will report back.

I have been using it since it came out and had no issues. It may be an environmental or fuel quality issue.quote:Originally posted by tankgenie

Re: diesel pipe dope thread sealant
I've been using Jomar Heavyweight for years, rated for everything but gasohol. I used to used Rectorseal #5 and only changed to Jomar when we started selling it at the company I worked for. For troublesome fittings I use Permatex #51D thread sealer. It's always worked for me. Worst case, if you have a fitting that you need to align but can't tighten it at the position you need it in, use Expando. You can hand tighten a fitting with Expando, let it dry overnight, and never see a drop out of it.
