My company is looking to put in some AST's for diesel and possibly unleaded fuel at our yards.
1 yard in Montana and 3 yards in North Dakota .
I know the DEQ's from each state have very little interest in regulating these tanks unless there is underground pipe.
they want us to comply with State Fire Marshall regs and requirements.
I am sure the tanks need to be registered and such some where for installation and operation .
Help ?!?! Any insight as to what I need to do and who I need to contact would be GREAT .
Thank you

Re: AST install and operation
Are you buying fuel direct, through a fuel management company or a local jobber?
If a jobber then they should be able to help with All detail and permitting.
If a fuel management company they as well can help with permitting.
When you pick the right fuel management company they can often work deals better than what jobbers have to offer.
You need some names or contacts just. e mail me.

When you are dead it's likely you won't know it. It could be difficult for others. It's the same if you are stupid.

What volumes are you looking at?
You want to follow EPA SPCC requirements at a minumum and NFPA 30 & 30A.
I don't know if Montana or ND regulate AST's. Some states environmental programs don't.
These might lead you to the information you need.

Re: AST install and operation
Aside from local jurisdiction and fire authorities, above ground petroleum storage tanks are regulated under Federal Code 40CFR112.
Drop me a line if you need any help or if you need an SPCC plan if applicable.
