Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 MK5
Windows 7
That's what I use. The good thing is if you do some shopping you can pick one up for about $300-$400 with a new SSD. It has a 10inch screen which can be too small for some but is nice when you don't have counter space. It does NOT have an optical drive. Not a big deal since sapphires are going away and you can always use an external. After owning a few Toughbooks I would never consider anything else for work use.
Backup laptop CF-74
Windows XP
Another great option that's cheaper, has a bigger screen and optical drive.
I would stay away from XP. Everything will work fine on Windows 7.

panasonic tough book by far! i've had mine for going on two years now with no issues in extreme heat/cold ... even dropped it waist level the other day by accident only for it to land on the edge of my brick steps ... scuffed/dented the bottom casing however is till going strong!Alex tuynman wrote:What should I look for in a laptop to use for work. Our techs have had their T60 for 6+ years
Except for dropping them
We are migrating to the T4xx series

We've been using Dell D830's - XP Pro
Let me know if you want to buy one - I have four for sale.
I have one PCMCIA Express Card with two serial ports also. Load three things at once.
